The computer grades are QFVC=F, QFEV1=A. Curves 2 and 3 (red) are not acceptable because of coughs. However, the computer did not detect the coughs and the F grade for FVC is based on a lack of a plateau on all but Curve #2. The computer FEV1 grades is A as the difference between the largest FEV1 (curve #3) and second largest (curve #2) FVC is 52 ml, although both curves #2 and #3 are considered unacceptable due to a cough. The FVC grade is raised to an A as the FVC (complete inhalation) is validate by the unacceptable (coughs) curves. The FEV1 grade remains the same as the FEV1's are very repeatable (using unacceptable curves) and a complete inhalation (one major reasons for a non-repeatable FEV1) is likely. Again, it is likely the FEV1 represents a maximal effort FEV1 as the inhalation is complete and the peak flow appears indicate a maximum effort. This tests also suggests that curve with coughs, although considered unacceptable by the ATS/ERS-2005, do not appear to impact the FEV1 values. Thus -- QFVC=A and QFEV1=A.
